Richard Anderson, of Grayslake, was first elected to the board of trustees in 1974, while attending the college as a full-time student, and he has served continuously on the board since then.

After studying at CLC, Mr. Anderson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeastern Illinois University and a Juris Doctor degree from Marquette University Law School. While at Northeastern Illinois University, he was selected for membership in Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international honor society in economics, and while at Marquette University, he served as vice president of the Moot Court Board. In 1998, he was named an outstanding alumnus of Northeastern Illinois University.

An attorney, Mr. Anderson has a practice in Grayslake. He is a member of the Illinois, Wisconsin, Chicago and Lake County bar associations and the Grayslake Chamber of Commerce. He is a former member of the Village of Grayslake board of trustees.

Mr. Anderson served as the chairman of the CLC board of trustees in 2008-09, 2000-2001, 1996-97, 1990-91 and 1984-85; during his tenure on the board, he has served on all of the board's committees.

Mr. Anderson previously served as a member of the University Center of Lake County board of directors, and he also formerly served as president of the Illinois Community College Trustees Association (ICCTA) and ICCTA North Suburban Region. Reflecting his interest in the role of trustees and trustee governance, Mr. Anderson has authored articles on trusteeship and board governance.

Mr. Anderson was selected as the recipient of the College of Lake County's Illinois Outstanding Citizen Award in 1999.
