William M. Griffin was first elected to the CLC Board of Trustees in 1995. A graduate of the College of Lake County, Dr. Griffin earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in corporate finance from DePaul University. In May 2011, he received a doctor of education degree from National Louis University in Chicago. Dr. Griffin is a full-time business faculty member and business department chair at Triton College in River Grove, where he received an outstanding faculty member award in 2014. He has also taught at the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, Carthage College and University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Prior to being elected to the board, he taught at the College of Lake County.

In addition, Dr. Griffin is an executive leadership coach at 360° Wellness and Coaching, Lake Forest, specializing in coaching educational, corporate and nonprofit leaders and teams to help them realize strategic objectives. His business experience also includes serving as chief operating officer of XTnrgy, a New York City−based firm, and as general manager of Commonwealth Edison’s Chicago Region. Dr. Griffin has accepted leadership challenges, both professionally and in public service. He is a former chair of the Edison Electric Institute Committee in Washington, D.C., served on the board of the Homebuilders Association of Illinois and was elected a life director of the Homebuilders Association of Greater Chicago in 1997. A former broker with Griffith, Grant and Lackie, a real estate firm in Lake Forest, Dr. Griffin also has served as the federal political coordinator for the National Association of Realtors, based in Washington, D.C.

In the area of public service, Dr. Griffin served on former Congressman Robert J. Dold’s education advisory committee and was an advisor to former Senator Mark Kirk on real estate issues in Illinois. He has served on the Boys and Girls Club of Lake County board of directors, the Public Policy Committee and the Finance and Audit Committee of the Association of Community College Trustees and the Illinois Literacy Council.
