About the College:
The College of Lake County is a large diverse district serving the third largest population in the Illinois community college system with 713,000 residents who live in more than 50 demographically distinct communities.
The college spans 442 square miles of Lake County, located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The 28,000 businesses in the District include nine national corporation offices. Lake County is also home to premier cultural, entertainment and recreation attractions, including 75 inland lakes, extensive forest preserves, Great Lakes Naval Station and Museum, the Genesee Theater, Ravinia Summer Music Festival, and Marriott Lincolnshire Theatre.
The college has a diverse student body of nearly 18,000 students in credit programs. In the spring 2009 semester, 49 percent were enrolled in baccalaureate/transfer programs and 38 percent career programs. Fifty-three percent of students were aged 24 or under, and 39 percent of students were members of a minority group.
With an operating budget of $83.2 million, the college is a major employer in the community with a workforce that includes 214 full-time faculty members, more than 700 part-time faculty members, and more than 500 full-time administrative and staff positions.
