The Lakeshore Campus offers students a variety of educational options. Many come to Lakeshore for an education that will immediately lead to a satisfying career. Other students come to gain college credit and transfer to a four-year college or university. Still others come to develop a specific job skill, to improve their ability to speak and write the English language, or to continue the process of life-long learning. Some students come to the College undecided about their futures.
CLC offers a variety of programs at the Lakeshore Campus:
- Degrees—transfer to a four-year college or university
- Certificates—start a career immediately after graduating
- ESL—improve the ability to speak and write the English language
- GED—take the GED exam and complete high school
Degrees
Students can earn an associate in arts (A.A.) degree by attending the Lakeshore Campus exclusively. Transfer and career courses that lead to an associate in science (A.S.) and associate in applied science (A.A.S.) degrees are also offered at the Lakeshore Campus.
Certificates
Certified Nurse Assisting
Certified nursing assistants provide direct patient care; transfer and transport patients, equipment and specimens; take temperature, pulse and blood pressure; and perform other procedures as directed by a nurse.
Construction Flagger
The Illinois Department of Transportation requires flagging on Illinois roadways be state certified. This four-hour course will reduce corporate and personal liability, prepare the novice for the first day on the job and enlighten the seasoned flagger. This training will also familiarize students with the essential issues of worker safety and work zone traffic control.
General Office Certificate
The General Office certificate prepares individuals for entry-level office positions with titles such as general office clerk, general office assistant, and clerk-typist. This certificate emphasizes general office skills and related skills needed for entry-level positions and career advancement.
Medical Assisting
This program prepares students to work as Medical Assistants. These positions provide routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians, chiropractors, and other health practitioners running smoothly
