July 10 – Aug. 21: Yumiko Irei-Gokce: Works on Paper, Then and Now. Chicago area artist Yumiko Irei-Gokce will feature works-on-paper and prints. She fuses a Japanese sense of space, color, material and methods with a Western manner of art making principles. Her works involve Japanese metaphysical dualities through images of plant-inspired organic growth.
Franyo Aatoth: Primarily Red, originally scheduled for Aug. 28 to Sept. 27, has been postponed until next year. The replacement show is Judith Roth & Pamela Lee: Figurative Works.

Chicago artist Judith Roth will display paintings and drawings of dancers and other figures. Lake County artist Pamela Lee will feature small scale, terra cotta sculptures of the human form. Reception: Friday, Aug. 28, 7-9 p.m.
Oct. 2 – Nov. 1: Recent Works: A Juried Competition. This 29th annual competition includes all fine art media and is open to all artists who reside or work in Lake County. Approximately $2,000 will be presented in cash prizes and purchase awards for the college’s art collection. Reception: Friday, Oct. 2 from 7-9 p.m.
Nov. 6 – Dec. 13: CLC Art Faculty Exhibition. The College of Lake County’s full-time and adjunct fine art faculty will present their works in this triennial exhibition. The show will include paintings, drawings, photography, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry and digital media. Reception: Friday, Nov. 6 from 7-9 p.m.
Jan. 15 – Feb. 21, 2010: Members Exhibition. A diverse group show of all fine art media by over 100 Lake County, Illinois artists. Funds from artist memberships support the endowment of the Robert T. Wright Gallery. Reception: Friday, Jan. 15 from 7-9 p.m.
Feb. 26 – April 11: Beyond Pixeltorialism: Digital Imaging in the 21st Century. This group photography exhibition explores how digital photography is breaking new ground both aesthetically and technically. It features the varied works of 11artists from the Chicago area and outside Illinois. Reception: Friday, Feb. 26 from 7-9 p.m. A gallery talk by Roland Miller, guest curator and dean of the CLC Communication Arts, Humanities and Fine Arts division, will be held prior to the reception, from 6:15-7 p.m. on Feb. 26.
April 16 – May 15: The College of Lake County Student Art Competition. A juried exhibit by current CLC art students featuring painting, drawing, computer graphics, photography, ceramics, jewelry, digital media and sculpture. The CLC Student Activities Office sponsors cash Merit Awards. The Lake County Art League sponsors two $500 scholarships for art students. Reception: Friday, April 16 from 7-9 p.m.
May 21 – July 2: Javier Chavira & Sergio Gomez: Figurative Works. Chavira is an art professor at Governors State University, University Park, Ill. Chavira’s unconventional portrait paintings and drawings explore his Mexican heritage. Gomez is an art instructor at South Suburban College in South Holland, Ill. In Gomez’s paintings, the figure exists as an anonymous representation of the self and it is depicted as a shadow, aura, ghost or energy light. Reception: Friday, May 21 from 7-9 p.m.

CLC Art Gallery announces 2009-10 exhibit schedule
A diverse group of eight new art exhibits are planned for 2009-10 season at the College of Lake County Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art. The first show, “Yumiko Irei-Gokce: Works on Paper, Then & Now” begins July 10 and continues until Aug. 21. All events are free and open to the public.
