The “Hire Learning” web site is at Hire Learning. A major feature of the Web site is an easy-to-follow five-step plan to increase job seekers’ odds of success.
The five steps are:
• Set up an appointment with a career counselor in CLC’s Career and Placement Services Center. Counselors will help clients assess their job skills and interests, learn what’s hot in the job market and what skills are needed to qualify. They’ll provide expert advice on resumes and cover letters and help develop a job-search strategy.
• Sign up for Career and Placement’s job search database. This free service allows job seekers to post resumes and search for jobs.
• Attend free job search workshops and mini job fairs on the CLC’s Grayslake campus. These workshops cover such topics as perfecting a resume, information on different career fields, strategies for conducting an electronic job search and more.
• Joining CLC’s Job Hunters’ Support Group. This support group is a forum for sharing job search strategies, beating stress and staying motivated.
• Putting CLC’s educational programs to work. Getting more education may give a career the biggest boost. (Earnings and job security increase with each level of education, from high school to master’s degree, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics.)
