Friday, Nov. 6 from noon to 2 p.m.: Luncheon at Le Titi de Paris, Arlington Heights. A delicious three-course French meal will be prepared by chef/owner Michael Maddox, a former CLC student. Paid reservations ($25 each) are required by Oct. 29.
Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.: As part of the International Film Series, “Web of Passion” will be shown in room A162. Admission is free. This 1959 film by Claude Chabrol celebrates 50 years of the French New Wave. “Web of Passion” features gorgeous color cinematography and New Wave icon Jean-Paul Belmondo as a drifter involved in murder and obsession at a seemingly idyllic, family-run vineyard in the countryside.
Monday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m.: “Molière Than Thou,” a show featuring Timothy Mooney, will be presented in C005 (C Wing Auditorium). Tickets, sold at the door or at the CLC Box Office, are $5 general admission. Parading through the best loved plays of France’s history, “Molière Than Thou” reinvigorates renaissance theatre and the court of Louis XIV.
Friday, Nov. 13 at noon and 7 p.m.: A West African Hand-Drumming Workshop with Helen Bond will be held in room C005. Tickets, sold at the door and at the CLC Box Office, are $5. Bond, a world renowned performer, percussionist, educator and storyteller, is founder and owner of Medusa’s Musical Mysteries and founder of Motherland Rhythm Community Music Organization. She is co-founder of the Performance Ensemble Diamana Diya and the Benkadi Project. She travels to Guinea, West Africa yearly where she lives among the Malinké people and studies under world-renowned musician Famoudou Konaté, grand master of the djembe drum and its orchestra (bass drums-dununs).

The fine food and fabulous culture of France will be celebrated at the College of Lake County during National French Week, Nov. 6-13. Students and members of the community who are interested in the culture and language of French-speaking countries are invited to the following events on the CLC Grayslake campus, 19351 W.
