CLC Art Gallery announces 2012-13 exhibit schedule

This 1981 self portrait by Joe Price is among the works on display at CLC in a solo exhibit July 9 to Aug. 10.
Eight diverse art exhibitions of ceramics, prints, collages, paintings and more are planned for the 2012-13 season at the College of Lake County Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art. All events are free and open to the public. The gallery will present the following exhibits in the coming year, and opening receptions with food and entertainment are planned on Fridays from 7-9 p.m. for most exhibits. All receptions and exhibits are free and open to the public.
July 9 to Aug. 10: Joe Price: Serigraphs. California printmaker Joe Price, who originally exhibited at CLC in 2003, recently donated a large body of serigraphs to the college. The works span his artistic career. Serigraphs are prints made by forcing ink through the open stencil areas of a silkscreen. “Joe Price has taken this relatively simple process to create stunningly realistic images in light and tone,” wrote Steve Jones in the 2003 exhibition catalog. “One of Price’s serigraphs may require 80 or more separate screenings to create its subtle color relationships and extended value ranges.” Price earned a B.S. from Northwestern University and an M.A. from Stanford University. Price’s work is included in the collections of more than 20 museums. His prints are included in corporate and private collections throughout the United States. He was a studio art professor at College of San Mateo from 1970 to 1994. His artwork can be viewed at www.mleestonefineprints.com. A reception will not be held.
