Feb. 17: College Expo includes HBCUs and top transfer colleges

A college expo featuring Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and some of College of Lake County’s Guaranteed Transfer Admission (GTA) partner schools will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 at the CLC Grayslake Campus.

CLC staff and visitors to the 2016 HBCU fairStudents and parents can speak with representatives from 25 HBCUs from across the U.S., nine GTAs from Illinois and Wisconsin and other select universities. The fair will be followed by Greek Step Showcase from 2:30-4 p.m., where alumni and members of collegiate Greek organizations will perform.

Thirty-minute workshops will be offered throughout the expo on the following topics:

  • Tips and tricks of college admissions: Getting into the school of your choice.
  • How HBCUs can help you on your path to success. There are more than 100 HBCUs in the U.S., which welcome any student.
  • Transferring from CLC to a four-year university or college.
  • Parents: How to help your student go to college.
  • FAFSA and scholarships can pay for college: So, go ahead and apply.
