May 24: Memorial Day ceremony

The 12th annual College of Lake County Memorial Day ceremony will take place at noon Friday, May 24 in Café Willow at the Grayslake Campus. The public is invited to attend.

The keynote speaker will be Kristine Breault, a retired senior chief petty officer, U.S. Navy and current IT coordinator at Grayslake Central High School.

Other speakers include Richard Anderson, secretary of the CLC Board of Trustees and a U.S. Army veteran. The master of ceremonies will be Andrew Tangen, U.S Navy veteran and superintendent of the Lake County Veterans Assistance Commission. Other speakers include: Staff Sergeant Joseph R. Scheck, Illinois National Guard and CLCPhoto of bugler Jim Reynolds at Memorial Day ceremony veterans specialist; U.S. Rep Brad Schneider; and Rene Kirklin, peer support specialist at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center and a 2019 CLC graduate. Jim Reynolds (pictured), a U.S Navy veteran and bugler from the nonprofit Bugles Across America, will play taps. Following the ceremony, there will be a luncheon for veterans in Café Willow, and refreshments will be served in CLC’s new veterans lounge in Room C181.

Parking is available in Lots 4, 5 and 6; enter at the A1 door and follow the signs to the B Wing and Café Willow.
