William M. Griffin, Ed.D.
William M. Griffin was first elected to the CLC Board of Trustees in 1995 and is currently serving as vice chairman. He is also currently serving as an associate member of the Finance and Audit Committee of the Association for Community College Trustees.
A graduate of the College of Lake County, Dr. Griffin earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in corporate finance from DePaul University. In May 2011, he received a doctor of education degree from National Louis University in Chicago. Dr. Griffin is a full time business faculty member and business department coordinator at Triton College, River Grove. He has also taught at the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, Carthage College and University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Prior to being elected to the board, he taught at the College of Lake County.
His business experience includes serving as chief operating officer of XTnrgy, a New York City based firm, and as general manager of Commonwealth Edison's Chicago Region. Dr. Griffin has accepted leadership challenges, both professionally and in public service. He is a former chairman of the Edison Electric Institute Committee in Washington, D.C., served on the Board of the Homebuilders Association of Illinois and was elected a life director of the Homebuilders Association of Greater Chicago in 1997. Dr. Griffin is also a broker with Griffith, Grant and Lackie, a real estate firm in Lake Forest, and serves as the federal political coordinator for the National Association of Realtors, based in Washington D.C.
In the area of public service, Dr. Griffin serves on Congressman Robert J. Dold's education advisory committee and is an advisor to Senator Mark Kirk on real estate issues in Illinois. He has served on the Boys and Girls Club of Lake County board of directors, Public Policy Committee of the Association of Community College Trustees and the Illinois Literacy Council.
