William M. Griffin
William M. Griffin served on the board of trustees from 1995 through 2001 and was re-elected to serve a second six-year term beginning in November of 2003.
A graduate of the College of Lake County, Mr. Griffin earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in corporate finance from DePaul University. He is an adjunct faculty member at the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, and, prior to being elected to the board, taught at the College of Lake County.
Mr. Griffin is the chief operating officer of XTnrgy, a firm that acquires and operates district energy systems (large-scale distributed cooling and heating systems serving multiple users such as commercial properties, government buildings, hospitals and airports). Additionally, he is affiliated with Griffith, Grant and Lackie, a real estate firm in Lake Forest. He also serves as the federal district coordinator for the 10th Congressional District, a position in the lobbying arm of the National Association of Realtors. He is retired from his position as the general manager of Commonwealth Edison's Chicago Region.
Mr. Griffin has accepted leadership challenges, both professionally and in public service. He is past chairman of the Edison Electric Institute Committee in Washington, D.C., served on the Board of the Homebuilders Association of Illinois, and was elected a life director of the Homebuilders Association of Greater Chicago in 1997.
In the area of public service, he is a member of the board of directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Lake County and is an associate member of the Public Policy Committee of the Association of Community College Trustees. Additionally, he serves on Congressman Mark Kirk's Education Advisory Committee and previously served on the Illinois Literacy Council.
