John W. Lumber
John W. Lumber was elected to the College of Lake County board of trustees in April 2007 to serve a six-year term.
A long-time employee of the college, Mr. Lumber retired in 2001 after serving nine years as a professor of history and 22 years as chairman, associate dean and dean of the Social Science Division. Before coming to CLC in 1969, he taught history at North Chicago Community High School from 1961-1970. Previous to that, he was a sixth grade teacher at Gavin Elementary School in Ingleside from 1960-1961.
Mr. Lumber attended Marquette University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in history in 1958 and a Master of Arts degree, also in history, in 1960.
Mr. Lumber's community service includes serving as a member of the Lake County Sheriff's Merit Commission from 1976-1980 and as its vice president in 1977 and president from 1977-1979.
