AQIP Action Projects (2009-2010)

Strategic Planning

The goal of this project is to update the College's strategic plan. This project includes a review of information gathered from an environmental scan and focus groups consisting of students, employees and community members. A strategic planning group with representatives throughout the college will conduct an analysis of the College's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT). Once the SWOT is completed the college will:

The project outcomes include:

  • Develop a vision and mission statement
  • Create values
  • Establish goals and objectives
  • Establish key performance indicators
  • Develop an annual planning process to support the implementation of the strategic plan

Once the draft is complete and input has been received, the plan will be finalized and communicated to the college-wide community.

College Readiness

The goal of this initiative is to help smooth student transition to college-level coursework by defining "college readiness," promoting communication between the College of Lake County and its key stakeholders regarding college readiness expectations, and to assist students in becoming "college ready" at the College of Lake County.

This project will:

  • Refine and continue the work of identifying college readiness expectations required for successful transition to college-level work.
  • Establish mechanisms for clearly communicating the college readiness expectations to key stakeholders.
  • Develop and communicate strategies to assist students on how to become "college ready" at the College of Lake County.


The goals of this project are to establish the CLC Sustainability Center, to contribute to actions required by the President's Climate Commitment and to monitor the progress of the President's Climate Commitment.

This project will:

  • Identify sustainability resources and reference materials relevant to Lake County for the Sustainability Center.
  • Collect recommendations for resource and reference materials from EAC subgroups, the college community, and the Community Partnership for Sustainability in Lake County.
  • Capture key educational resources and tools for inclusion in the center and for posting on the Go Green website.
  • Review the emissions inventory data and analyze major emissions areas for the college as part of the President's Climate Commitment.
