AQIP Action Projects (2011-2012)

AQIP Action Project #1: Cohort Scheduling

The goal of this project is to develop educational models and/or alternative scheduling options such as short-term programs and "packaged/block" schedules in order to meet student needs, compete with for-profit colleges, increase enrollment and better utilize campus facilities.

This project supports the goal of maximizing educational opportunity within the district (Goal 2) and addresses the objective of responding to market place demands for non-traditional course delivery options (Objective 2.4).

AQIP Action Project #2: Online Readiness

The goal of this project is to establish an entry process for online students to increase their awareness, satisfaction and retention levels for online courses.

This project will:

  • Develop an active process to prepare students to participate in online courses
  • Integrate an assessment tool to evaluate online student learning styles and technical ability
  • Research best practices at other institutions
  • Analyze current student experiences with online courses and establish methods for improvement

This project supports the goal of advancing student learning and success (Goal 1), as well as the goal of enabling a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement (Goal 5).

AQIP Action Project #3: Barriers to Completion

The goal of this proposed project is to identify and remove barriers to completion in order to increase the number of CLC students who complete their associate degrees. This aligns with President Obama's commitment to ensure that America will regain its lost ground and have the highest proportion of students graduating from college in the world by 2020. Today, the United States ranks twelfth in college graduation rates, with just 40.4% of people ages 25-34 holding a minimum of an associate degree. President Obama has challenged community colleges to double the number of graduates in ten years.

This project will include:

  • Analysis of CLC student completion rates
  • Identification of barriers to completion
  • Review of best practices
  • The creation/implementation of action plans to reach the goal of increasing the number of graduates
  • Utilize technology (e.g., degree audit) to help students become more successful in completing their degree

This project supports the goal of advancing student learning and success (Goal 1).
