Green Initiatives at CLC

Sustainable CLC

The College of Lake County's Sustainability Plan (PDF) establishes goals, action items, and performance metrics within the intersecting spheres of Greening Our Campus, Greening Our Curriculum, and Greening Our Community. CLC reports its progress on meeting these goals and action items in the Annual Sustainability Plan Performance Report (PDF).

CLC is a charter signatory of Second Nature’s Climate Commitment, formerly known as the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment (ACUPCC). CLC is proud to be selected as a finalist for the  2015 Second Nature Climate Leadership Awards with six other two-year institutions. This national competition recognizes CLC’s proactive work to build a sustainable and positive global future.

CLC received the Gold level award from the Illinois Campus Sustainability Compact in 2014, for integrating sustainability into its daily operations and transforming its culture. Best practices for green building and development not only conserve resources, but also serve as a living laboratory for student and community learning.
