Sustainable CLC

The College of Lake County strives to serve as a center of excellence in sustainability, a living laboratory Greening our Campus, our Curriculum and our Community.

Our Sustainability Plan

The College of Lake County establishes goals and performance metrics to help the college along its path to sustainability with its Sustainability Plan (PDF) and tracks its progress in the Annual Sustainability Plan Performance Report (PDF).

Our Sustainability Awards

CLC is proud to have earned a number 8 ranking in North America by AASHE's 2017 Sustainable Campus Index (PDF) with its Silver STARS rating from AASHE. The college also has received a Bee Campus USA designation from Bee City USA, and a Best Management Practice Project award from the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission. Additionally, the college received a 2017 Emerald Award from the USGBC Illinois Chapter for Building Innovation with the Science Building, in addition to a 2016 Green Genome Award for integrating sustainability into its “genetic fabric.” CLC is a charter signatory of Second Nature’s Climate Commitment, a finalist for the 2015 Second Nature Climate Leadership Awards, and the Gold level award from the Illinois Campus Sustainability Compact in 2014.
