Transfer Programs

Transfer programs are for students interested in transferring to a four-year college or university to complete a bachelor’s degree. These programs lead to an Associate in Arts (A.A.), an Associate in Science (A.S.), an Associate in Engineering Science (A.E.S.), an Associate in Fine Arts (A.F.A.) or an Associate in Arts in Teaching (A.A.T.) degree.

Career Programs

Career programs are for students interested in a career immediately after graduating from CLC. Students enroll in a two-year program leading to an Associate in Applied Science degree (A.A.S.) or a shorter sequence that leads to a certificate.

Online/Hybrid Classes

Students can take courses 24/7 from the convenience of their own home. Online courses are offered in a variety of different subject areas, with more being developed each semester. At this time, 90 credit courses are available online. The college also offers non-credit online courses.

Continuing Education

Continuing education courses range from one-day seminars and workshops to semester-length courses. These non-credit courses are for students who want to gain general knowledge, learn a new skill, upgrade existing skills or develop personal interests.

Professional Education

The college has been approved by various regulatory and accreditation agencies to provide continuing education units for teachers, real estate professionals, accountants, nurses, social workers, and nursing home administrators.

Adult Basic Education

Adult Basic Education provides instruction in basic reading, writing and mathematics for students who have not completed a high school diploma.

Honors Program

The Honors Program is dedicated to providing students with opportunities to enrich their academic and community experiences. Honors courses emphasize critical and creative thinking and use primary sources. It is dedicated to reflecting the diversity of the college community as a whole.

ESL—English as a Second Language

English as a Second Language classes provide language instruction to adults whose native language is not English.

GED—High School Completion

The college offers preparation for adults who have not completed high school and want to take the GED examination to earn their high school equivalency certificate.

Bachelor's and Graduate Degrees

The University Center of Lake County is located on CLC's Grayslake Campus at 1200 University Center Drive, near the corner of Washington Street and Lancer Lane. Ideal for continuing and returning students, the University Center offers bachelor's and graduate degree programs from 18 private and public colleges and universities, as well as professional development opportunities.
