Adult Basic Education (ABE)

Adult Basic Education provides instruction in basic reading, writing and mathematics for students who have not completed a high school diploma. Students are pre-tested and placed in appropriate instructional levels.

Adult Basic Education courses are sponsored by the Illinois Community College Board and are tuition free to all students EXCEPT international students on F-1 visas.

Note: These courses do not apply to any associate degree or career certificate program.

Literacy Tutoring

Literacy tutoring (one-to-one individualized instruction) in reading is provided in partnership with the Lake County Adult Learning Connection. Tutoring is offered in cooperation and coordination with local libraries. Tutors volunteer their time.
