Enrolling at the College of Lake County is a great investment for you and your student. Your son or daughter will make progress on earning a college degree, and you’ll save money while you enjoy the summer together.
At CLC, your student will experience:
-
A valuable education that’s also a real value.
With tuition and fees at $90 per credit hour, it’s obvious that CLC can save you money. But value is based on quality as well as price, and CLC offers both.
CLC’s faculty are outstanding teachers. In fact, they are evaluated on teaching rather than research, though many also publish in their fields. Facilities, too, are top-notch. Science, computer and technology labs, for example, are state-of-the-art.
All of that may be why our students give us high marks. In a recent survey of graduates, virtually 100 percent of respondents expressed satisfaction with their education at CLC.
Credits that transfer easily.
The Illinois Articulation Agreement ensures that core general education courses easily transfer to participating institutions (almost all four-year schools in Illinois). Many schools outside Illinois also accept CLC credits. (Indeed, CLC students have gone on to undergraduate and graduate degree programs at the University of Illinois, Northwestern, the University of Chicago, Stanford and many more.
Lots of personal attention.
We’re about individuals not numbers (though we have the numbers to back up our claims.) CLC classes are small—the average class size is 21, and instructors are regularly available in their offices as well as in class to help students. There’s also a lot of other assistance to help students succeed--tutoring and writing and math centers, for example, when Calculus and Biochemistry become a bit too challenging.
A challenging learning environment.
You may have heard that community colleges like CLC have open enrollment. That’s true, but not every student can take every program. Just as at four year schools, CLC students must demonstrate language and math proficiency for college-level courses by submitting scores from a standardized test such as the ACT, SAT or CLC’s own Academic Proficiency Test.
Choices, choices, choices.
This summer, CLC is offering more than 600 course sections including many popular general education transfer courses.
Flexibility.
Day, evening, weekend or online, at our Grayslake, Vernon Hills or Waukegan locations, our courses are offered to give students options.
A special environment [stimulating and relaxing—no oxymoron].
Colleges definitely have a personality, and CLC is no exception. Ours is friendly and welcoming, a place where people who don’t know you will say "hi."
