ELL/ESL Action Project
This project will improve the processes by which CLC helps English Language Learners (ELL) transition into college-level classes.
Primary Results
- Three questions added to college application. These are designed to enhance data collection and analysis with the goal of providing improved support services to meet the needs of ELL students.
- The entire Adult Education ESL curriculum and course sequences revised to create two tracks: 1) an academic track for students seeking to transition into college programs and degrees and 2) a life skills track for students seeking general language development.
- Counselor presence increased in academic ESL classes to assist ESL student transition.
- Improved process implemented for ESL students seeking financial aid and scholarships.
- Bi-lingual motivational and recruitment videos and PowerPoint presentations developed to explain registration and financial aid process.
