Choral Groups

Students as well as community members make up CLC’s four choral ensembles. Participation in ensemble music is an important aspect of a music major’s education, provides important artistic perspective for those in other majors, and is a valuable means of expression and fellowship for students and community members alike. Several times a year, the choral ensembles perform in CLC's professional-level theater, the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, and performances are also held in the local community and beyond.

CLC Singers

(credit course MUS 120-001, non-credit course CMSC 2)

Directed by Ingrid Mikolajczyk, this chorus consists mostly of traditional college-age singers. The chorus rehearses a wide range of choral music, both accompanied and a cappella, from 1-2:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Auditions are held prior to and during the first weeks of each semester.

Chamber Singers

(credit course MUS 120-002, non-credit course CMSC 9)

Directed by Ingrid Mikolajczyk, this select ensemble features gifted students and skilled community members performing challenging music from a wide variety of time periods. The Chamber Singers rehearse on Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m. Auditions are selective and are held prior to and during the first weeks of each semester.

Choir of Lake County

(credit course MUS 120-003, non-credit course CMSC 3)

CLC’s largest choral ensemble performs everything from show tunes to high classical repertoire. In this chorus, participants with limited choral experience sing alongside highly-skilled singers, some with degrees in music. Rehearsals are on Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. No audition is required. The choir's director is Ingrid Mikolajczyk.

Gospel Choir

(credit course MUS 120-004, non-credit course CMSC 1)

The exciting and inspirational music performed by CLC's Gospel Choir often brings audiences to their feet or joining with them, clapping in joyful rhythm. With dynamic soloists sharing their talents, the Gospel Choir performs traditional and contemporary gospel music as well as spirituals. An ethnically diverse group ranging in age from teens to seniors, blend their talents to inspire audiences at several concerts throughout the year, including the college’s annual Salute to Gospel Music concert in February. No audition is required. Matthew Hunter is the director.
