CCI International Student Grant
During summer 2010, The College of Lake County (CLC) is hosting 9 students from the Community College Initiative (CCI) supported by the Community Colleges for International Development (CCID) organization. The 9 CCI students are from India, Pakistan, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Turkey. They are enrolled in various English Language Instruction (ELI) courses, which enable students to gain the required language proficiency and study skills. In addition, they are benefiting from campus based services such as writing center, labs, as well as activities such as Asian culture Festival etc. As part of the global leadership development, the students also took field trips to exciting culture events such as Art festival, Architecture tour and shows around Lake County, Chicago and Milwaukee areas. They enjoyed the trips very much and learnt much about American culture.
For the 2010-2011 academic year starting the Fall, CLC will host 10 students from the following countries: Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, and Pakistan. The 10 students will be enrolled in the certificate program for Marketing and Sales in the Business Division of CLC. They will also be integrated into campus life at CLC through participation in clubs, campus-based activities, student support services, and programs emphasizing volunteering, and will be monitored through continuous interaction with staff trained in service to international students. Finally, they will return home with a credential, a business plan, and a store of practical knowledge that will enable them to make a positive impact on the future development of their home countries.
