CCRF 2 Glassblowing Paperweights

Intended for beginners with little or no hot shop experience, this hands-on class will concentrate on making three different round paperweights using various processes and colors: Glo-ball, Shard-ball and Cane-ball. Leave with three of your own paperweight creations and a better appreciation for working with Hot Glass. Proper attire is mandatory: long-sleeved cotton shirt, long pants, socks, closed-toed shoes, a pair of sunglasses. Class time may vary depending on the number of students. Course fee covers all materials. Class is held at Peter Patterson Glassworks, 888 Tower Road, Unit E Mundelein, IL. Students 14-17 may register for this class through the Explore program and attend with a registered parent or other authorized adult. Call (847) 543-2615 for more information. Parent must sign a waiver with Patterson Glassworks.

CCRF 4 Beginning Glassblowing

Learn the secrets of the ancient art of glassblowing in this class intended for beginners with little or no hot shop experience. Starting with a simple gather we will work our way up to blowing a glass vessel, exploring different techniques in shaping, forming and coloration of the glass and even experimenting with specialty glass, such as Dichroic or “Glo Glass”. Expect to complete eight to 12 pieces. Class time may vary depending on the number of students. Class fee covers materials. Proper attire is mandatory: long-sleeved cotton shirt, long pants, socks, closed-toed shoes and a pair of sunglasses. Class meets at Peter Patterson Glassworks, 888 Tower Road, Unit E, Mundelein, IL. CCRF 29 Introduction to Mosaics Workshop

Share creative friend or family time in a fun, relaxed and inviting atmosphere while learning basic mosaic techniques, methods and applications. Fashion a 4" x 4" mosaic or use your own design to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece to take home. All materials and supplies are included in the class fee. Design templates are provided but individual creativity is encouraged! Register early. Space is limited.

CCRF 31 Beginner Sewing: Sew Happy Together

Here's a fun class to show you and your sewing machine how to "sew happy together". Get acquainted with your machine: needles, threading and troubleshooting. Learn how to read a pattern and choose fabric. Enjoy cutting, assembling and completing your own sewing project. A supply list will be provided before the first night of class. Bring your own sewing machine, sharp scissors and a box of pins to the first class. The instructor will discuss additional supplies in class. Class size is limited. Returning students are welcome. Reluctant to begin a sewing project you have always wanted to tackle? Get the helpful support and guidance you need to start and finish your project. Our seasoned instructor will answer questions, offer suggestions, and give direction that will keep you motivated. Learn and create in a fun environment with fellow project conquerors. CCRF 50 Pattern Drafting

Fashionistas! Get ready to rock the runway! Learn basic pattern drafting techniques to create a customized pattern which you can alter to make different styles. Begin by creating a paper pattern and a fitted muslin sloper, the building block for all other pattern making. Learn and execute the steps necessary to complete your own pattern. Basic math and fraction skills are required. Bring your own sewing machine. A supply list will be provided prior to class. CCRF 53 Beginner Quilting: Ripped Log Cabin Quilt

Learn these quilting basics in a fun, introductory class: quilt terminology, fabric selection, color coordination, fabric tearing (grain straightening), log cabin squares, quilt seam allowances, log cabin patterns, batting and backing, tie through and stitch-in-the-ditch. Make a nine-square baby quilt or wall hanging (approximately 47" x 47") as your final project. A supply list will be provided prior to the first class. Bring your own sewing machine, sharp scissors and a box of pins to the first class. The instructor will discuss additional supplies in class. Register with a friend! Baxter Innovation Lab Intro. Series – Family Friendly!
Bring your creativity to light using state-of-the art technology and tools in CLC’s new Baxter Innovation Lab. Our Introductory Series provides a great introduction to the various projects and equipment available. Experience the world of 3D modeling software, 3D printing, laser cutting and shop tools as you complete three creative and useful projects over three weeks and acquire new skills in design and technology. March 2: Beautify your home or office with a constellation box. Learn to use tools and get comfortable with a drill. March 16: Simplify media viewing with a combination phone stand/key chain. April 6: Declutter and simplify your desktop space with a customized storage box. No experience necessary. Register with your teen and inspire each other as you design, innovate and make together.
