CWRT 23 Write Your Story: Generate, Format and Create Your Dramatic Script or Screenplay

You have a story. Bring it to the stage or big screen. Begin and complete an original short screenplay/script (or work on the draft you've already started) in this eight week class. Study examples of popular plays and movies to discover what makes a script work. Practice skills associated with dramatic writing, including special techniques for generating ideas and formatting scripts. Emphasis will be placed on dramatic structure, plot, character development, writing dialogue, creating visual metaphors and revision. Explore ways to promote your finished product. No class March 25 due to Spring Break.

CWRT 28 Writers in Progress Workshop

Whether you are a beginning writer or a published author, join other kindred spirits for a great opportunity to network, gain writing skills and receive creative guidance. Each class will consist of writing technique instruction and a constructive, positive critique session led by the instructor. Bring your manuscripts and works in progress to class. Class meets every other Thursday from September 20 to October 18 and then again on November 8.

CWRT 63 Advanced Creative Writing Workshop

Experience the joy of writing in a safe, supportive group of fellow writers. Start your first piece or reconnect with your personal writing. Explore techniques to unleash creativity and help you establish the habit of writing on a regular basis. Be inspired. Examine other creative works and discuss the art of writing. Improve your writing. Give and receive helpful feedback through supportive group critique. Have fun creating and sharing your own writing. Learn to release your inner voice, quiet the critical voices and embrace the freedom to write. Class will incorporate lecture, discussion and a multitude of valuable writing activities.
