Our goal is to assist you in obtaining your educational benefits through a variety of aid programs offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). Programs for veterans include the Illinois Veterans Grant (IVG), Illinois National Guard Scholarship (ING), Illinois MIA/POW Scholarship and the Montgomery GI Bill. Illinois Veterans Grant (IVG) NEW AND RETURNING STUDENTS
If you have already used your IVG benefits at CLC or have already applied and received an award letter from college zone, click on the link below for our enrollment form. Must be completed each semester you wish to use your IVG.

You must re-apply on a yearly basis. You must also complete the Veterans Enrollment Form below.

Policies and Procedures

Various government regulations require our office to follow a STRICT set of procedures. To ensure your educational benefits claim is processed in our office in a timely manner, please SUBMIT ALL REQUESTED INFORMATION AT THE SAME TIME.

If you are a veteran, COPIES OF THE DD-214'S MEMBER 4 COPY MUST ACCOMPANY YOUR APPLICATION. If you have multiple enlistments, submit a member 4 copy of your DD214 for each enlistment.

Current active duty personal only: The Admisssions Office must receive a sealed copy of your military transcript

Educational claims are processed through the Department of Veterans Affairs Office in St. Louis, Missouri. The Department of Veterans Affairs will notify you in approximately 4-6 weeks, stating your benefit entitlement. You should begin to receive your GI Bill benefits in approximately 8-10 weeks after classes begin.

You must complete a Data Card each semester after you register in order to continue to receive your GI Bill.

Additional Information Needed for GI Bill

CH 30 Montgomery GI BILL - Active duty began after 7-1-85

  1. Copy Member 4 copy of DD214 from each enlistment.
  2. Official transcript from any prior college and/or military training, Sent directly to Admissions/Records office at CLC.

CH 32 V.E.A.P. Active Duty from 1-1-77 until 6-30-85.

  1. Copy Member 4 copy of DD214 from each enlistment.
  2. Official transcripts from any prior College and/or military training. Sent directly to Admissions/Records at CLC.

CH 34/30 Old GI BILL Active Duty prior to 1-1-77

  1. Copy Member 4 copy of DD214 from each enlistment.
  2. Copy of your Marriage Certificate. (If applicable)
  3. Copy of your divorce decree, as well as spouse. (If applicable)
  4. Copy of your Children/ stepchildren birth certificate.
  5. Official transcript from any prior College and/or Military training. Sent directly to admissions/records office at CLC.

CH 35 Dependent spouse/ surviving spouse, son or daughter.

  1. Copy of Marriage certificate. (If spouse/surviving spouse)
  2. Copy of birth certificate (son or daughter)

CH 106 Montgomery GI Bill for Reservists.

  1. VA form DD-2384 Notice Of Basic Eligibility (NOBE)
  2. Official Transcripts from any prior college and/or military training. Sent directly to admissions/records office at CLC.

CH 30,32 and Ch 34/30 - Active Duty

  1. The Education center on base must complete a DD 295 form (Smart transcript).
