There are two associate degrees and one certificate offered in the area of criminal justice.

Associate in Applied Science (Plan 25CE)

The associate’s degree in Applied Science is for the student who wants to begin a career upon completion of the degree.

This program is structured to prepare students for a variety of careers in the criminal justice system at local, state and federal levels. Students can specialize in a number of areas including law enforcement, criminal investigation, juvenile justice, court services, as well as community-based and institutional corrections.

Students pursuing the A.A.S. degree are required to complete 21 credit hours of general education, 24 credit hours of criminal justice core courses and 15 credit hours of criminal justice electives. All students are urged to consult with a criminal justice advisor in planning their program of study.

Associate in Arts (Plan 13AB)

The associate’s degree in Arts is for the student who plans to transfer to a four-year college or institution to earn a bachelor’s degree.

There are 62 recommended credit hours recommended for students who have not decided upon a specific four-year college or university. Once a transfer school has been selected, students should meet with a counselor or advisor to determine courses at CLC which will also meet the transfer requirements.

Certificate (Plan 25CF)

Students can earn a certificate in criminal justice with 30 hours of approved coursework.
