Program of Study: Elementary Education
Academic Division: Social Sciences
Associate in Arts (Plan 13AB)
The following courses are recommended for students who have not decided upon a specific four-year college or university. Once a transfer school is selected, students should meet with a counselor or advisor to determine courses at CLC which will also meet the transfer requirements. It is recommended that students arrange to take the Illinois Test of Basic Skills upon completion of 45 credit hours. To complete an AA, students should select from the general education requirements. All course prerequisites must be met.
This degree plan would most benefit students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to obtain Illinois K-9 teacher certification. Students who plan to obtain Illinois teacher certification for grades 6-12 should major in the discipline they would like to teach, i.e., if you want to teach history, follow the history program plan.
Academic concentration/elective courses should be selected in consultation with the EDU advisor or counselor. For more information on this course of study students may contact either the division office listed or one of the following full-time faculty members.
