Program of Study: Phlebotomy Technician
Academic Division: Biological & Health Sciences
Prepare for national certification as a phlebotomist, a skilled professional who draws blood for diagnostic purposes. This certificate prepares students for entry-level positions as phlebotomists in hospitals, clinics, blood banks, and other health care settings.
Students will develop skills in performing phlebotomy procedures during on-campus training, followed by a clinical practicum during which students spend eight hours a day, five days a week for three weeks (120 hours) at a clinical site.
Requirements
- Demonstrate English language and math proficiency prior to enrolling in MLT 110.
- Have a CLC GPA of 2.0 or higher prior to enrolling in MLT 110 (if applicable).
- Have a high school diploma or GED.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Maintain a grade of "C" or better in each course and have an overall CLC GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Have health insurance and satisfy phlebotomy health requirements prior to beginning MLT 116 - Phlebotomy Clinical.
