RN Refresher Course
This course is designed for Illinois nurses whose license has been inactive or who have not practiced in five years or more. To learn more, view the info sheet or attend an info session.
NURSING PROGRAM
CLC offers two options, a Nursing Assistant Certificate (CNA) and an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Attend an Information Meeting
All individuals interested in the nursing program are strongly encouraged to attend the General Information Meeting as a first step in applying to the program. Potential nursing students should attend the meeting prior to taking the NLN exam or beginning coursework. A General Information meeting must be attended within two years from the date you are screening.
Certificate for Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Certified nursing assistants provide direct patient care; transfer and transport patients, equipment and specimens; take temperature, pulse and blood pressure; and perform other procedures as directed by a nurse.

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Registered nurses observe, assess, evaluate and document symptoms, reactions and progress and make patient-care decisions; assist physicians during treatments and examinations; and administer medications and treatments.

NLN PRE-RN EXAM
All students who wish to be screened for NUR 171 (Registered Nursing) are required to take the NLN Pre-Nursing Exam. The official results must be on file in the CLC office of Admissions and Records by the screening deadline.
Beginning January 2009, the registration deadline for the NLN Exam will be two weeks prior to the test date. See schedule.
