Academic Proficiency Prerequisite - English Language
Students can show English language proficiency in a number of ways.
Submit one of the following documents to the Admissions office for review. The Office of Admissions and Records is located in Room B101, or you may call (847) 543-2061 if you have questions.
- High School transcript showing top 1/3 rank in class after six semesters.
- American College Test (ACT) Reading: score of 17 or above AND English: score of 17 or above.
- Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), Critical Reading score of 450 or above AND Writing score of 450 or above (or prior to 3/1/2005 a Verbal score of 450 or above).
- GED Transcript; Reading score of 550 or above and Writing Skills score of 550 or above (or prior to Jan. 1, 2002: score of 55 or above).
- TOEFL computer-based test score of 197 or above, paper-based test score of 527 or above or internet-based test score of 71 or above.
- Evidence of an associate or higher degree from an accredited U.S. college or university.
- Transcript of U.S. college/university record with at least 30 semester hours of credit and no grade below C.
- Completion of CLC ELI 104, 107, 108, ENG 108 or equivalent with a grade of A.
- Completion of CLC ENG 109 or equivalent with a grade of C or better.
- CELSA Placement or Post test score of 70.
OR
Take the CLC Academic Proficiency Test (Language Skills) offered at CLC's
Testing Center. A score of 153 or
above meets proficiency.
