Academic Proficiency Prerequisite - Math (basic algebra readiness)

Students can show math proficiency in a number of ways.

Submit one of the following documents to the Admissions office for review. The Office of Admissions and Records is located in Room B101, or you may call (847) 543-2061 if you have questions.

  1. High School transcript showing top 1/3 rank in class after six semesters.
  2. American College Test (ACT) score report , Math: Score of 17 or above.
  3. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) score report, Math: Math Score of 450 or above.
  4. GED transcript; Math Skills; Score of 550 or above (or prior to Jan. 1, 2002 score of 55 or above).
  5. Evidence of an associate or higher degree from an accredited U.S. college or university.
  6. Transcript from a U.S. college/university record listing one of the following:
    • at least 30 semester hours of credit with no grade less than C
    • or credit equivalent to MTH 101 or higher level courses at CLC
  7. Completion of a 4.0 credit hour MTH101 or MTH114 at CLC with a grade of 'C' or better.

OR

Take the CLC Math Placement Test (Arithmetic section of the test) offered at CLC's Testing Center. A score of 56 or above meets math proficiency.
