Illinois Articulation Initiative-
General Education Core
CLC participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) which is a statewide agreement between many Illinois colleges and universities designed to help Illinois college students transfer credit as easily as possible. The agreement is effective statewide for freshmen entering college for the first time in the summer of 1998 and thereafter.
The IAI establishes a "package" of lower-division general education coursework accepted at all participating schools which is called the Illinois Articulation Initiative General Education Core Curriculum (IAI GECC).
- Completion of the IAI GECC assures transferring students that lower-division general education requirements for a bachelor’s degree have been satisfied at any participating institution. (Note: Some 4 year institutions have additional requirements for graduation and for admission to certain majors. Students are encouraged to consult a CLC counselor for more information.)
- Students who do not complete the IAI GECC before transferring need to complete the general education requirements of the transfer institution; completed CLC courses will be evaluated on a course by course basis.
