Navigation for Adult Basic Education, GED & ESL:


The Division of Adult Basic Education, GED & ESL provides educational opportunities to adults who have not acquired a high school diploma. These are:

  1. Adult Basic Education (ABE) provides instruction in basic reading, general language development, mathematics, and life-coping skills to adults who have not completed high school.
     
  2. English as a Second Language (ESL) classes provide instruction in English speaking, reading, and writing to adults whose primary language is not English.

  3. General Educational Development (GED) classes prepare adults who have not completed high school to take the GED exam. This class is offered in English and Spanish.

  4. High School Completion classes are for adults who want to complete their high school graduation requirements to earn a high school diploma. Students must have a minimum of 16 credit hours and be separated from a secondary educational system.

  5. Job Readiness training provides adult instruction in job search processes.
