About the CLC Foundation

The College of Lake County Foundation
was formed in 1974 as an Illinois not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation to provide financial support for student scholarships and college programs and projects that cannot be funded through the college’s tax-supported budget.

The need for this support has steadily increased over the past 37 years, as state support has become an ever-smaller percentage of the college’s funding.

Our Mission Statement

The College of Lake County Foundation provides additional resources in support of the educational goals of the college. It also encourages and promotes activities to create a positive environment for student, faculty and staff success. Through these efforts, it contributes to the viability and well-being of our community.

It has made my college education more affordable to my family and it has taken weight off of our shoulders. With the help of this scholarship as well as hard work and determination, I obtained my Associate in Science degree after the spring 2011 semester,” Kristine said.

Foundation Goals

Governance

The CLC Foundation is managed by a 42-member board of directors, which includes two members of the college’s elected board of trustees, who serve as a liaison between the Foundation and the college board. The officers of the Foundation board of directors consist of a president, 1st vice president/ president-elect, secretary and treasurer. The Foundation’s executive committee consists of four board officers plus the vice president and assistant vice president of the following standing committees: Board Development, Community Relations/Outreach, Cultural, Finance, Grants and Scholarships, Major Gifts, Special Events and Strategic Planning.

The Foundation board meets quarterly, and board members are asked to serve on at least one of the eight standing committees, which meet on an as-needed basis. Under the general direction of the board of directors, the executive director of the CLC Foundation is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Foundation and serves as the general manager of the corporation.
