Being an international student gives me the opportunity to experience a different approach to learning. I am also in a very good position to expand my horizon by meeting people from other ethnic/racial and social backgrounds. I feel like this will help me later on, even when I go back to the Philippines, to build and maintain a network of friends from all over the world.

What do I like most about CLC? I enjoy the small class sizes in community colleges like here at CLC, because I feel like I learn better in this type of environment. I believe being at CLC is helping me adjust to the U.S. higher education system and that my experience here will provide me a smoother transition to university life later on.

Why did I choose CLC? As an international student, I pay around three times the tuition of an in-district resident in state- and federally-funded academic institutions. With my goals in mind, I am very eager to find ways to minimize my expenses. I consulted with academic counselors from pharmacy schools I am interested in, and they assured me that they will consider the credits I earn from CLC in the same way they will consider credits coming from four-year universities.

Involvement in the community. I am a Student Ambassador in CLC’s New Student Orientation office. I like the fact that I get to represent CLC and interact with incoming students. I like to think that I have a part in helping them transition to college life, and in helping them determine and plan out their educational and career goals. I like to think I make a difference in the lives of the people I encounter in both jobs.
