College Readiness

During the Summer session, we offer our Jump Start program for recent graduates of select Lake County high schools, including North Chicago High School. The program allows students to complete one developmental class (math or English) over the summer. The program also includes:

  • An orientation for parents and students
  • Intense support from dedicated tutors
  • Peer mentoring
  • Instruction in study skills and time management
  • Workshops on transitioning from high school to college
  • Exposure to resources for success on CLC’s campuses

Dual Credit

Through dual credit, the students are getting a head start on earning college credits and an early taste of the college experience and expectations for success.

Educational Talent Search

North Chicago Community High School students are participating in CLC’s Educational Talent Search, a pre-college educational program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and CLC. In addition to North Chicago, the program serves students at Round Lake, Waukegan and Zion-Benton high schools. Activities include tutoring, coaching and academic support; cultural experiences; and college visits, all offered free of charge to the students.
