Home-Schooled Students
Why CLC Is the Right College Choice
For students who have been home-schooled, the search for a college raises big questions, including:
- Does the college or university accept my home-school credentials?
- Will I be able to make the transition from home schooling to a college workload?
- How can I be involved in the college community?
Fortunately, home-schooled students have a warm, welcoming option: the College of Lake County.
Like others enrolling at CLC, home-schooled students want high-quality academics that offer lots of program choices, great preparation for a career or transfer and caring and dedicated professors. Meeting these requirements is a given at CLC, and you’ll find lots of information relating to academics and support services, including career and transfer preparation, on this website.
But home-schooled students also have their own needs, and CLC is a welcoming college choice for them.
CLC not only accepts most home-schooled credentials, it offers an academic environment that fosters a smooth transition from home-based learning to a college classroom. The average class size of 19 students, smaller than what’s common at many other colleges, allows for more personal attention from the instructor. And CLC’s many support services, including counseling and advising, peer mentors and more, are available when students need a helping hand in adjusting to learning in a college context.
Opportunities to make friends and develop a social life are also an important part of the college experience. Student life programming includes more than 40 student clubs, a fitness center, intercollegiate team sports and many educational and entertainment-focused events on campus.
