Step 1: Apply as a Continuing Education Student
New students who want to take non-credit classes for personal or professional interests can complete the Continuing Education Application for Admission. Returning students are automatically eligible to register if they have enrolled in a CLC class anytime in the last 5 years. Continuing Education students do not need to reapply, but should update address information by completing a Change of Personal Information form.
Note: Some Continuing Education programs have specific registration requirements, for example Xplore (youth program) and Trucking Driving (vocational program). Please refer to the specific Continuing Education Program for more information.
Step 2: Know Your CLC ID Number and PIN
When you fill out an application you are assigned a 7 digit CLC ID number and a PIN which you can use to register on the web. Your ID is available approximately 2 working days after the application is submitted.
To learn your CLC ID number go to ID Look-Up.
Note: Your PIN is initially set to your 6-digit date of birth like MMDDYY. Its very important to change your PIN to protect the security of your records at CLC. You many change your PIN when you login to student self-service.
Step 3: Register for Classes
When you are ready to select your classes, use the CLC Classes By Term. You will need to specify the term, and click on the Basic Search button. Enter the subject code and catalog number (if you know them) and press search, OR look up the subject code by clicking on the magnifying glass, and then pressing the 'Look Up' button. All non-credit continuing education classes begin with the word 'Continuing' in the description. When you find a specific class section you want, make note of the 4-digit class number.
You may register on-line, or in person in the Admissions office, B101 at the Grayslake Campus, the Student Services office at the Lakeshore Campus or the main office at the Southlake Educational Center.
On-Line - Go to Self-Service and log on:
Login ID is upper case 'W' plus your CLC ID
Password is upper case 'W' plus your PIN
Once you have logged in, use the menu to add or drop classes, view your schedule, your bill and many other options.
Step 4: Pay fees by the due date.
Payment is encouraged at the time of registration. Course fees may be paid on-line with a credit card through Self-Service. The college offers several payment options. Depending on the date you register, you may not receive a printed bill prior to your due date, however you will see the due date on the registration page, and you can check your bill online through Self-Service at any time. Just login and select 'View my Bill and Payment Options'. Continuing Education students who do not pay their bill by the due date will have their enrollment cancelled.
All students are responsible for officially dropping courses they do not wish to attend. If you need to drop a non-credit class, you can do so through Web Self-Service or the Touch-tone phone system. Each non-credit class has a deadline for dropping and receiving a refund. One-day classes must be dropped no later than the day before the class in order to receive a refund.
