Ineligible Programs and Courses

To be eligible to receive financial aid, you must be enrolled in and actively pursuing a degree or certificate in an eligible program of study.

At the College of Lake County, these programs are:

  • Associates in Arts
  • Associates in Science
  • Associate in Engineering Science
  • Associate in Fine Arts for:
    • Art
    • Music Education
    • Music Performance
  • Associate in Arts in Teaching:
    • Early Childhood Education
    • Secondary Mathematics
    • Special Education
  • Most Associate in Applied Science degrees
  • Most certificate programs that require at least 16 credit hours to complete.

Financial aid will only cover courses that are required for to complete an eligible degree or certificate program.  This includes developmental courses that are at a post-high school level and prepare a student to take college-level courses. Adult education, "pass/no pass" courses, and some career courses are not eligible for financial aid.
