Deferred Payment Plan for Financial Aid or Veteran Students

All students who use financial aid or selected Veteran's benefits (Chapters 30, 32, 35, 1606, 1607 and VRAP) to pay for their classes must arrange for a Deferred Payment Plan to hold their classes while their aid is pending.

The Deferred Payment Plan will not be available to you until your FAFSA or Veteran's Benefit Enrollment form has been received by the college. (This usually takes several business days from the time you submit the forms.) If you enroll before your forms are received by the college, you will only be allowed to enroll in the Installment Payment Plan and a down payment will be required.

How does the Deferred Payment Plan work?

This plan provides a way for you to pay any balance you may owe after your award has been disbursed. There is no fee to sign up for the Deferred Payment Plan. The deferred payment plan and any fees will only go into effect if a balance is due after your aid award is disbursed. If your award pays all tuition, fees and other authorized charges, the payment plan is void. If your award doesn't pay all tuition, fees and other authorized charges, you will have two choices to pay the balance: (1) You may pay the balance in full before the first payment attempt (using cash, check or credit card) or (2) the deferred payment plan will be activated to collect the remaining balance due. If the deferred plan is required, payments will not begin until after the financial aid census date.

Steps for Financial Aid Students

Demonstrate Eligibility for Financial Aid. To be eligible for federal and state financial aid, students must submit a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and meet all eligibility requirements. For more information, contact the Financial Aid Office.

As a financial aid applicant, you must complete the following steps before your tuition due date:

  • Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Assistance to complete the FAFSA is available through the Financial Aid Office.
  • Enroll in financial aid-eligible classes.
  • Sign up for the Deferred Payment Plan. This option with no up-front fee and no down payment has been developed to accommodate the needs of financial aid students, whose aid is often not disbursed until after the semester starts.

Steps for Veteran Students

  • To request use of Veteran's educational benefits, complete the Veteran's Benefits Enrollment form found in the Student Center accessed through myCLC.
  • Enroll in eligible classes.
  • Sign up for the Deferred Payment Plan. This option with no up-front fee and no down payment has been developed to accommodate the needs of veteran students, whose aid is often not disbursed until after the semester starts.
