How to Apply to the Honors Program

In order to get into the Honors Program, you must complete a formal application. Download the Honors Program Application Form (PDF) or obtain this from the Honors Coordinator. Along with the completed application, you need to include:

  • Unofficial copies of your high school or college transcripts
  • Unofficial copies of your ACT scores (if you have at least 12 credits of academic college courses completed at CLC or at another school)

The Honors Advisory Committee will consider the following criteria in evaluating your application. To be admitted into the Honors Program, you must meet the following criteria. Please note that meeting the criteria is a prerequisite and not a guarantee of admission into the program.

  • Students entering CLC as freshman: High school GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Current CLC students: CLC GPA of 3.5 or higher (based on at least 12 academic credit hours)
  • ACT composite score of 25 or above (highly recommended but not required)

Students who are accepted into the program do not need to reapply to the Honors Program each semester. However, in order to remain in the program and continue to take honors courses, students must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 and receive at least a "B" in all of their honors courses.

Honors students are also expected to stay enrolled in their honors courses and successfully complete them. If a student withdraws from an honors course, s/he will no longer be eligible to take future honors courses.

In order to receive the Honors Program scholarship, currently enrolled honors students MUST complete the CLC Foundation Scholarship Application found in the CLC Guide to Paying for College. Failure to the application will result in a forfeit of your honors scholarship.
