Teaching full time at CLC since: January 2005; previously was an adjunct faculty member at Triton College; U.S. Navy veteran, boiler technician 2nd class; licensed stationary engineer and heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) service technician.

Subjects taught at CLC: Heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) electricity, residential appliances, EPA certification, load calculation, air movement and ventilation, green building and sustainable energy.

Education: A.A.S., Harper College; B.A., Concordia University; Ed.M., University of Illinois. Main goal in teaching: Help students prepare and succeed in a rewarding career in the HVACR industry. It provides really great opportunities for practitioners to use intelligence, creativity and the ability to help people be comfortable and safe–in the places we live and work and in the foods and products that we consume. I strive to teach students as much as I can so that they can excel in the workplace and achieve long and secure employment in a very fulfilling field.

Teaching full time at CLC since: 2007; previously taught for six years as a CLC adjunct. Professor Smith also taught at Indiana Vocational Technical College and Environmental Technical Institute in suburban Chicago.
