Second Assistant Superintendent
Crane's Landing is a public 18- hole golf course designed by George Fazio and opened in 1975 located approximately 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. Even though it is part of the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort the majority of play comes from the surrounding area.
Primary Grasses:
Greens - bentgrass/poa, Tees - bentgrass/poa, Fairways - bentgrass/poa.
Job Description—The assistant superintendent will assist the superintendent in all aspects of golf course management. Duties will include pesticide application, course setup, project management, and crew management.
Requirements—Candidate must have a two year certificate or four year degree in turfgrass management and two years of work experience on a golf course. Must have or obtain an Illinois Pesticide Applicator license, and have a valid driver's license.
Salary—$15.00 Hr.

Environmental Summer Internship (3 positions)
Time: May 1, 2009 - August 31, 2009 (Flexible)
Hours: 40 hours/week
Pay: $12.00/hour
Job recipient will be expected to assist in the field implementation of wetland, prairie, and woodland restoration and creation in the six-county Chicago region (transportation provided from our Volo office). Job provides excellent opportunity for learning hands on techniques for natural area restoration and management. Responsibilities to include, but not limited to, any of the following:
Plant and seed installation; weed control and brush clearing by use of herbicide, hand removal, mowing, chain saws, and brush-cutters; collection of vegetation and groundwater data; data entry.
Applicant must be a full-time college student in his/her freshman, sophomore, or junior year. He or she must be willing to spend the majority of the time outside, able to lift at least 50 lbs., must have a valid driver's license and will be required to obtain a valid Illinois Commercial Pesticide Operators License (for herbicide application). A strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a general knowledge of plants are beneficial to this position.
