About the Program

The Associate in Arts in Teaching Secondary Mathematics is a transfer program housed in the Engineering, Math and Physical Science division. It is intended for students who wish to continue their education at a four-year college or university to earn a bachelor’s degree qualifying them to teach mathematics in a high school.

Do You Already Have a Bachelor’s Degree?

If you already have a bachelor’s degree in another discipline, you should consider Alternative Certification. You can take your math classes at CLC and then finish your certification at another institution without having to complete another bachelor's degree. The Associate in Arts in Teaching Secondary Mathematics is a 62-credit-hour program that contains the courses required for the Illinois Articulation Agreement general education courses and includes both mathematics and teacher preparation courses.
