Tips for a Positive Interview

  • Arrive 10‐15 minutes early
  • Introduce yourself in a courteous manner with a firm handshake
  • Use body language to show interest
  • Smile, nod, give nonverbal feedback to the interviewer
  • Use the interviewer’s name from time to time
  • Sound positive, not indecisive
  • Moderate the speed of your speech
  • Don’t fill pauses with “um”, “uh” or “ah”
  • Punctuate your speech just as you would a sentence
  • Offer examples of your accomplishments
  • Thank the interviewer
  • Write a thank you email to interviewer
