What type of resume is right for you?

Chronological

This type of resume works best if you have solid experience and a logical job history. A chronological resume is the most preferred by employers because it organizes education and experience in reverse chronological order, with the most recent position and job title listed first.

Functional

A functional resume works best if you are making a career change or have a work history that includes unrelated jobs. This kind of resume highlights qualifications, skills and related achievements with little emphasis on employment dates. Use this kind of resume to focus on how your skills relate to the position you are seeking.

Combination

The combination resume highlights qualifications, skills and related achievements relevant for the position and employer’s needs. An employment history is included as a separate section. A combination resume is a cross between the chronological and functional, and tends to reflect solid career development. This may work best if you have employment gaps, left work to pursue additional education or have some other extensive background that developed transferable skills.
