Career couselor helping student

Working with the CJPC

When students first visits the Career and Job Placement Center, a working relationship with a Career Services Specialist typically develops through the following steps:

  • Students register on LancerJobLink powered by College Central Network
  • Students work with a Career Specialist to create or revise their resume, which is added to their LancerJobLink account.
  • The student and Career Specialist work together to find relevant internship opportunities to match the student’s interest and supplement their classroom learning experience.
  • The student and Career Specialist arrange a mock interview, which provides relevant feedback on where the student can improve and what the student does well. This happens before the student interviews with an employer.
  • The student and Career Specialist communicate regularly during the internship experience.
  • The Career Specialist helps the student update their resume with their internship experience.
  • If the student seeks to enter the workforce rather than transfer to a four‐year university, the Career Specialist helps the student find relevant jobs in their areas of interest.
  • The student and Career Specialist continue to work together as necessary on resume development, interview skills and job‐search strategies for up to two years after the student graduates from CLC.
