The Position
The vice president for administrative affairs reports to the president and is one of the college’s three vice presidents along with the vice president for educational affairs and the vice president for student development.
The vice president for administrative affairs serves as the college’s chief financial officer and also as the secretary/treasurer for the board of trustees. Reporting to this vice president are the assistant vice president for institutional effectiveness, planning and research; chief information officer; dean of business services and finance; chief of police department; and directors of facilities and resource development and legislative affairs.
The vice president for administrative affairs is granted the authority to make administrative decisions regarding financial and business affairs within the guidelines of college policy and governance.
The vice president has the following responsibilities:
- Advising the president and board of trustees on the development of short- and long-term financial plans to support current and projected needs. Periodically reviewing these plans with the administration and board of trustees.
- Directing and coordinating the preparation of the annual college budget for submission through the president to the board of trustees.
- Planning, coordinating and directing the overall functions of the administrative affairs area, which include budget and finance, institutional research, resource development, facilities operation and management, information technology and campus police.
- Fostering and leading strategic planning and continuous quality improvement initiatives within the Administrative Affairs division and coordinating college-wide efforts for these initiatives with the Office of the President.
- Exercising overall responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the college’s physical plant and providing oversight in funding and managing construction projects.
Minimum Preferred Qualifications
- Progressively higher levels of administrative experience in higher education, a non-profit organization, municipal or other governmental entity having an annual budget comparable in complexity to the College of Lake County.
- An advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
