Registration now open for summer and fall classes

Registration is now open for Summer Session, which offers two start dates: May 15 and June 4; and for Fall Semester, which begins Aug. 20. Students who attend other colleges and universities and are back in Lake County this summer can register for specific summer courses and defer prerequisites at the time of registration. CLC also is offering several options designed to help transfer students meet science lab requirements at CLC this summer.

In just three weeks, students can complete an intro to biology or chemistry lab-only course during Intersession (May 15 to June 1) and then take the next level during thePhoto of CLC summer class eight-week Summer Session. CLC created these new lab-only courses for reverse transfer students who have already taken a lecture-based course and need to quickly complete the lab requirement.

The cost of taking 9 credit hours at CLC this summer is $1,342, less than one-third the cost of an Illinois public university (based on average per-credit-hour tuition and fees in 2017-18).

CLC’s Guaranteed Transfer Admission Partnership allows CLC students to be admitted to one of 23 local, regional or international partner institutions by meeting program requirements. This ensures a seamless transfer of credit to the four-year colleges and universities. For information, visit

The Promise Program is accepting applicants from current high school seniors who will enter CLC in the fall. The program covers the gap between federal and state financial aid and tuition and fees for qualifying students. It requires students to develop a two-year academic plan, create a career or transfer plan and participate in leadership and professional development activities. For details, visit

If you want to complete short-term training to become a truck driver, real estate agent, information technology professional, pharmacy technician or veterinary technician, view a list of continuing professional development programs and information sessions at

CLC also offers an array of noncredit personal enrichment courses, on topics such as fitness, music, computers, dance, history, creative arts and more, for students of all ages, from children through retirees. If you need to complete your high school equivalency, learn English as a Second Language or build basic competency in reading, writing and math, the Adult Basic Education and ESL division offers free courses at all three campuses and other Lake County locations that also begin Aug. 20 and Sept. 10.
