Whether you are a returning College of Lake County student, or a high school junior or senior planning to take fall CLC classes, you can learn digital skills, including how to manage your online reputation, at a 10-day Summer Bridge to Success class. The free, one-credit workshop takes place from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Thursday, July 16-31 at CLC’s Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St.
Students will learn practical tips, such as managing what a Google search would reveal about them. “Potential employers and colleges make decisions based on your social media and digital footprint,” said Rodolfo Ruiz-Velasco, multicultural student access and success coordinator. “Students will find out how to avoid making mistakes that could negatively affect their future.”
Additionally, a class on digital design skills covers web page design, branding, coding and blogging. In a workshop on building your personal brand, students will receive a professional headshot and digital resume assistance to project a positive image of their skills and abilities.
Besides the practical sessions, Summer Bridge to Success includes a daylong, chartered bus trip to visit Lake Forest College and the University of Illinois-Chicago.
